WHAT is PCR
WHAT IS PCR
Post-consumer plastics are plastics that have been used by consumers, discarded, and then recycled to be used in the production of new products.
BOOMPODS is using Post-Consumer Plastic in Find My Smart Trackers, True Wireless Earbuds, and Speakers:
In an era of increasing environmental awareness, the tech industry is beginning to embrace sustainable practices, including the use of post-consumer recycled (PCR or RABS) plastic in consumer electronics. Post-consumer plastic refers to plastic that has been used by consumers, discarded, and then recycled for use in new products. This eco-friendly approach has found its way into a variety of electronic devices, including smart trackers, true wireless earbuds, and speakers, providing a unique opportunity to reduce waste while maintaining the performance and durability expected from these devices.
At BOOMPODS, we prioritize sustainability by using PCR plastic for our product components, specifically opting for Recycled ABS (RABS) when possible. However, we go even further in our commitment to the environment by using ocean-bound plastic in some of our products, which prevents plastic waste from reaching the oceans and contributes to cleaner waterways. The use of ocean-bound plastic is part of our mission to create products that are not only high-performing but also environmentally responsible.
Smart trackers, such as those integrated with the Find My Apple network, often rely on plastic casings, and traditionally, this plastic would be sourced from virgin materials. By incorporating PCR or RABS plastic, we are helping to repurpose materials that would otherwise end up in landfills or oceans, reducing the overall environmental impact of these devices. Additionally, ocean-bound plastic is a key part of our sustainability strategy, as it helps tackle the growing issue of ocean pollution by utilising plastic waste that would otherwise pollute marine environments.
In the case of true wireless earbuds and portable speakers, these products are becoming a central part of daily life, and their production typically involves significant amounts of plastic. By using PCR plastic and ocean-bound plastic, we reduce the carbon footprint associated with manufacturing these devices. This is especially important in the tech industry, which is known for high levels of electronic waste. By using recycled materials, we help close the loop on plastic waste, encouraging a more sustainable life cycle for electronics.
Our commitment to using sustainable materials is part of BOOMPODS’ broader effort to help reduce the global reliance on virgin plastic and create more eco-conscious products. We believe that technology should not only be innovative but also take responsibility for the impact it has on the environment. By incorporating recycled and ocean-bound plastics into our products, we contribute to a circular economy that prioritizes resource conservation and waste reduction.
For more information on our efforts and how we incorporate ocean-bound plastic into our products, see our Tide Ocean Material link for further details. At BOOMPODS, sustainability is at the core of what we do, and we are committed to creating products that are as kind to the planet as they are to our customers.
